Manchester United Injury Update: Red Devils confirm injuries to Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans

Manchester United Injury Update: Double blow for the club

Manchester United have confirmed that Raphael Varane will be out for the next few weeks after picking up a muscle injury during their Premier League game with Chelsea last week. The Frenchman was taken off at the break that day and replaced with Jonny Evans.

Varane has been riddled with injuries ever since he joined the Red Devils from Manchester United in 2021 and this season has been no different. He missed four games across August and September last year while being sidelined once more in late December with illness.

The former Real Madrid star’s latest bout of injury marks a return of his fitness issues. While it is unknown for how long exactly he will be sidelined, but Varane is most likely to sit out of their all-important FA Cup semi-final clash with Coventry City on 21 April.

United have further revealed that Evans is also out with a muscle problem, but his will be a short-term absence. The defender will therefore miss the game against Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday, like Varane.

United already struggling

Manchester United have been struggling lately, failing to win their last three games. Since beating Liverpool in the FA Cup, the Red Devils have drawn twice on either side of a pulsating defeat to Chelsea as Erik ten Hag’s side haven’t been able to build on the momentum gained following their big win over their northwest rivals. Throw in the injuries too, and Ten Hag has a real challenge on his hands in the coming weeks as their season enters the home stretch.
