Manchester United ready to disrupt Liverpool’s transfer plans with bold bid for top star

Manchester United are on track to scoop Giorgi Mamardashvili from the clutches of Liverpool in the transfer market.

As per reports the Georgian has chosen the Old Trafford move over Anfield.

To date among Europe’s top five leagues, only Liverpool has not made a single signing this summer. However, there was a chance for a change in the tides after the Reds agreed a deal with Valencia for goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili last week.

Despite the 23-year-old not officially joining Liverpool until 2025, they planned to complete the transfer of the Georgian stopper this month before loaning him back to Valencia.

The main idea behind Liverpool’s colossal decision is to find a replacement for Alisson Becker – who’ll be turning 33 soon.

However, with Mamardashvili loaned to Bournemouth by Valencia for the 2024/25 campaign, before linking up with Liverpool in 2025, he would have gained some Premier League experience before a big move.

As per the rules, signed players cannot be loaned to another club in the same league in the same transfer window, meaning Liverpool cannot loan Mamardashvili to Bournemouth until the January window if he officially joins Liverpool this summer.

Moreover, the process has begun between Liverpool and Valencia, and the Reds may pay no more than £30m with some add-ons attached, while the Spanish side is planning out for a fee structure of €40m/£34m.

But, Manchester United has caught the eye here with a remarkable hijack of the move. This move could land a heavy blow for Liverpool.

The Red Devils claim to be showing a long-term interest in Mamardashvili. Furthermore, ‘sources say the 6ft 6in keeper is also very much open to a move to Old Trafford.’

With Onana holding on to the starting position from day one, we are yet to know if Mamardashvili can compete with him or indeed, replace him.

Manchester United have had quite a busy transfer window after signing four players this summer, including Mazraoui, Matthijs De Ligt, Yoro, and Zirkzee. It seems they are trying for number five before the transfer market closes.
