It is already known that Marco Reus will leave Borussia Dortmund when the season ends. But where he would go next remains unknown as he only announced his departure from the club after 12 years.
Out of the blue, A French-side media outlet canal+ through their pundit Samir Nasri reported that Reus has received offers from some of the MLS sides. The former Manchester City winger said that Reus is considering some options about his next destination.
Marco Reus is having a priority before deciding where to go
However, Reus is having another priority at the moment with Dortmund. He is on the verge of closing his chapters with Die Borussen in style by advancing to the Champions League final. After 11 years, Reus had another chance to redeem his failure in the 2013 final when losing to Bayern Munich that year.
Playing against Bayern in another final is possible for Dortmund. Thomas Tuchel’s side are having a 2-2 draw on aggregate with Real Madrid and will play the second leg at Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night.
“I’m incredibly grateful for and proud of this special time at my club Borussia Dortmund,” Reus said in his farewell statement via AS. “I have spent more than half of my life at this club and enjoyed every day – even though there have also been difficult times too. I know that I am going to find it difficult to say goodbye when the end of the season arrives.
“But I am happy that there is now clarity and that we can focus fully on the very important final games that we still have to play. We have a big objective in our sights that we all want to achieve together. To do so, we will need every single one of our unbelievable fans, to whom I would like to express my sincere thanks for their unbelievable support over the years,”
Should Reus really head for the United States to play in MLS, there are several potential options for him. Inter Miami are looking for stability in the midfield, adding their full-of-stars squad with the presence of several former Barcelona stars.
Chicago Fire are also a potential side for Reus to join. His former compatriot in the national team, Bastian Schweinsteiger was playing there on the last days of his professional career before retiring.
Don’t take the teams from Los Angeles out of the contention. Both LA Galaxy and LAFC have a reputation of signing former stars from European football such as David Beckham, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Carlos Vela.
