Marco Reus Transfer: Borussia Dortmund legend set to join MLS

The 34-year-old German midfielder is set to leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of this season. Both the club and player have mutually agreed to not extend Reus’ contract beyond the summer.

Reus came through the Borussia Dortmund academy and enjoyed spells at Rot Weiss Ahlen and Borussia Monchengladbach before securing a return to his boyhood club in the summer of 2012.

The German tactician has been a resilient figure at Borussia Dortmund for the past 12 seasons and has gone on to make 424 appearances, registering 168 goals and contributing 128 assists in the process.

During his time with BVB, the attacker has lifted four trophies and also reached the Champions League final under Jurgen Klopp’s tutelage in 2013. The veteran attacker has secured another European final with the Black and Yellow after beating PSG 2-0 on aggregate in the semi-finals.

Reus has managed to rack up seven goals and seven assists in 37 appearances across all competitions but his deal with BVB is set to expire in June. The club revealed that the attacker is now looking for a new adventure and has no plans to hang up his boots at this stage of his career.

Marco Reus Transfer: Will he join MLS in the summer?

Marco Reus has already confirmed he will be leaving Borussia Dortmund at the end of this season. Winning the Champions League final will be a fitting way to end his exemplary career with the Black and Yellow.

There have been rumors of a potential MLS move in the summer and Reus can follow the trend where we have seen the likes Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and a few more spend their final years of professional careers in the United States.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Samir Nasri disclosed that Reus’ talks of a potential move to MLS have already begun.
