Marcus Rashford faces disciplinary action by Manchester United but could still face Wolves

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is likely to be reprimanded for his disciplinary breaches by the club, but could still be included in the squad to face Wolves.

This is as per a club statement released by United, which was further relayed by journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The statement read:

“Marcus has taken responsibility for his actions. This has been dealt with as an internal disciplinary matter, which is now closed.”

Romano then added that Rashford will be available for selection for Manchester United’s Premier League clash against Wolves on Friday, February 2.

Manager Erik ten Hag, too, chimed in on the matter and offered his two cents and explained the situation.

“Rashford called in sick; the rest is an internal matter. I’ll take care of it. As I said before the match, it’s an internal matter.”

Marcus Rashford was excluded from the traveling squad for Manchester United’s FA Cup 4th Round trip to Newport County as a punishment. The team managed to win 4-2 but the task at hand was not easy as Newport put up a tough fight. However, United have now progressed and will face either Bristol City or Nottingham Forest in the next round.

Meanwhile, ten Hag and his men are gearing up to resume Premier League action later this week. Their last game was nearly a fortnight ago as the Red Devils were held to a 2-2 draw by Tottenham.

Currently, they are sat in a worrying eighth in the league table with 32 points from 21 games. Manchester United will need to win more games should they have hopes of qualifying for next year’s UEFA Champions League.

They will travel to face Wolves in their next game, before facing West Ham and Aston Villa in what will prove to be a challenging few weeks for the manager and his players.
