Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has said that his players won’t celebrate after the final game of the season. Chelsea are currently sixth and would stay in the same position if they win. They can even finish fifth given Tottenham lose and they win.
Hence, qualifying for next season’s European football is a real possibility for the Blues. Pochettino, however, thinks that it’s not an achievement good enough for the team. He claimed they won’t celebrate after the game against Bournemouth on Sunday. The Argentine said (via Fabrizio Romano on X):
“We’re not going to celebrate and take a picture finishing 5th or 6th and Europe. It’s not enough for the club, owners, sporting directors or the players. It’s not enough for us.”
Chelsea are currently in a good run of form, winning four and drawing one of their last five league matches. Despite a slow start to the season, Pochettino’s side have turned it around. Only Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool have scored more points than Chelsea in 2024.
