Will Mohamed Salah be available for the clash against Manchester City? Jurgen Klopp has shared his latest update

The Egyptian superstar picked up a hamstring injury when he was on international duty during the Africa Cup of Nations and left the tournament early in an attempt to regain fitness quickly.

He made a brief return against Brentford on February 17, bagging one goal and one assist in Liverpool‘s 4-1 thumping victory over Thomas Franks’s men but Salah has since been sidelined with muscle fatigue.

What has Jurgen Klopp said about Mohamed Salah’s Injury?

The veteran forward returned to first-team training ahead of Thursday’s Europa League clash against Sparta Prague and managed to play only a few minutes on the pitch.

Mo Salah has missed the Carabao Cup final and a few other fixtures but is currently working towards a full recovery, even though Jurgen Klopp wants to be careful with the forward’s injury.

Following Jurgen Klopp’s press conference, The Liverpool boss addressed the situation ahead of the Europa League tie against Sparta Prague. He said:

“We want to be careful, we have to be careful but we’re in the middle of a super-intense period of the season and we need everyone.

“So let’s see how long we can use him and these kinds of things. Yes, it’s just good news.”

Unsurprisingly, Mo Salah is the leading goalscorer for the Merseyside club this season with 19 goals in all competitions, and a miracle return against Manchester City this weekend would be a huge boost for Jurgen Klopp and his men.

Mo Salah has one of the best records against Man City, so we can understand why Liverpool are doing everything to make him available for Pep Guardiola’s men this Sunday.

The 31-year-old has registered 11 goals and six assists against the Cityzens in the last 19 games he played for the Reds.

Salah is expected to join up with his national side for a friendly against New Zealand during an international friendly later this month.

Who can replace Mo Salah against Man City?

The Reds would struggle with the Egyptian’s absence this weekend and Jurgen Klopp would be looking at a few options at his disposal.

Darwin Nunez has struggled with his own injury problems and has not played a full 90-minute game in nearly a month. But the Uruguayan could start against Man City, having scored a brace against Sparta Prague on Thursday night.

Jurgen Klopp would want to capitalise on the dynamic trio of Luis Diaz, Nunez, and Harvey Elliott if Mo Salah is unavailable.
