New Chelsea manager to be unveiled by end of next week : Reports

Despite finishing sixth on the Premier League table and losing just three league games since the turn of the year, Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino parted ways by mutual consent a few days after the season ended. The decision to do so, reportedly made by the Chelsea board, has not gone down well with fans especially unhappy at the fact that the Argentine was removed.

That was especially as many believed Pochettino had finally found his groove with the squad and was getting the best out of one of the youngest squads in the Premier League. Furthermore, reports had indicated that the Blues’ board were looking for a younger coach to help mould their current squad into world beaters.

Thus as a result, the club had created a shortlist of several managers with Thomas Tuchel, Enzo Maresca, Kieran McKenna, and even Thomas Frank on the list.

Not only that, Jose Mourinho and Sporting CP’s Ruben Amorim have both been linked to the job although there has been no rumours as to who the club could appoint. However, despite that, Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol has reported that the Blues are already closing in on an appointment. So much so, that the reporter revealed that the club will appoint a manager by the end of next week.

That essentially means the end of May well before pre-season begins, giving the new manager enough time to play a role with new signings and potential departures before the season starts. Solhekol further reported that Maresca, McKenna, Frank and an unknown ‘high-profile mystery name’ are the front-runners for the job with many believing Frank or Maresca are the leading candidates.
