Newcastle still monitoring possible move for £40m Liverpool outcast

The Magpies are currently keeping tabs on Liverpool defender Joe Gomez, who has surprisingly been linked with an exit in the final two weeks of the summer window. The 27-year-old defender is way down the pecking order at Liverpool and the club is reportedly ready to accept £40-45m to sell the versatile defender this summer. 

Gomez is currently Liverpool’s fourth-choice centre-back behind Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Jarell Quansah. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is keen to bolster the backline and could match Liverpool’s asking price for the England international.

He has been a great servant for Liverpool and is coming off the back of one of his best seasons in a Liverpool shirt.
