Can Neymar Return in Time from Injury for Copa America?

According to AS, Neymar’s physical therapist, Samer Al Shahrani, believes the Brazilian player is currently at the most critical phase of his recuperation, which calls for muscle building and an early return to training.

In order to represent Brazil in the Copa America competition this summer in the United States, Neymar is hoping for a miracle. Neymar has already been spotted practicing his ball juggling skills on the pitch and gradually regaining his condition through workouts at Al Hilal’s gym.

Neymar’s recuperation is proceeding more quickly than anticipated, therefore he might be able to compete in the event.

However, Rodrigo Lasmar, the team doctor for Brazil, stated that Neymar is anticipated to return to the pitch in July or August. June 21 is the opening date of the Copa America competition, which runs through July 15.

How Neymar Suffered the Injury

While participating in the World Cup qualifying round for the Brazilian national team in October, Neymar sustained an ACL injury.

On October 17, 2023, Brazil played Uruguay in the Estadio Centenario. Darwin Nunez and Nicolas de la Cruz scored the goals that caused the five-time World Cup champions to lose 2-0.

The injury forced Neymar to be stretchered off the field just before halftime. Prior to the setback, Neymar had featured in five matches for Al Hilal, registering one goal and two assists for the Saudi Arabian club.

The Brazilian forward’s illustrious international career boasts 79 goals in 128 appearances for the national team, surpassing Pele as Brazil’s all-time leading goal scorer.

Neymar achieved this milestone with a brace against Bolivia in a World Cup qualifier match at the Estadio Estadual Jornalista Edgar Augusto Procença. Pele and Ronaldo Nazario follow Neymar in Brazil’s all-time goal-scoring charts, with 77 and 62 goals, respectively.
