Tournament favourites Nigeria will face hosts and unlikely finalists Ivory Coast in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday, February 11.

The Super Eagles have been one of the most formidable sides at this edition of the AFCON. They qualified as runners-up behind Equatorial Guinea from Group A, and are unbeaten at the tournament. They knocked Cameroon (2-0), Angola (1-0) and South Africa (4-2 pens.) to progress to their eighth final in history. Having finished third in 2019 and being sent home in the round of 16 in 2021, Nigeria were looking to go on and win the cup for the fourth time.

The Elephants, on the other hand, have been one of the luckiest sides in AFCON history. They finished third behind Nigeria & Equatorial Guinea in Group A and only made it to the knockouts as the worst third-placed team. Since then, they knocked Senegal (5-4 pens.), Mali (2-1 a.e.t.) and DR Congo (1-0) to progress to their fifth final in history. The Ivorians made it to the quarters in 2019 and the round of 16 in 2021 and were looking to lift the cup on home soil.
