Nigeria vs Ivory Coast Overview
Tournament favourites Nigeria will face hosts and unlikely finalists Ivory Coast in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday, February 11.
The Super Eagles have been one of the most formidable sides at this edition of the AFCON. They qualified as runners-up behind Equatorial Guinea from Group A, and are unbeaten at the tournament. They knocked Cameroon (2-0), Angola (1-0) and South Africa (4-2 pens.) to progress to their eighth final in history. Having finished third in 2019 and being sent home in the round of 16 in 2021, Nigeria were looking to go on and win the cup for the fourth time.
The Elephants, on the other hand, have been one of the luckiest sides in AFCON history. They finished third behind Nigeria & Equatorial Guinea in Group A and only made it to the knockouts as the worst third-placed team. Since then, they knocked Senegal (5-4 pens.), Mali (2-1 a.e.t.) and DR Congo (1-0) to progress to their fifth final in history. The Ivorians made it to the quarters in 2019 and the round of 16 in 2021 and were looking to lift the cup on home soil.
That said, let’s take a detailed look at the betting tips and odds for this fixture.
Nigeria vs Ivory Coast Betting Tips & Odds
Betting Tips (Primary)
- Nigeria to lift the Cup: 1.90
- Ademola Lookman Over 0.5 Shots on Target: 2.38
- Both Teams to Score: 2.04
The above tips are our primary suggestions based on the trends shown by both teams so far at the AFCON. Nigeria have kept four clean sheets so far to the Ivorians’ two. However, considering what’s at stake, both teams can be expected to go full tilt in offense.
Lookman has been the focal point of the Super Eagles’ attack despite Victor Osimhen’s presence and will take centre-stage again in the final.
Betting Tips (Long-shot)
- Match Outcome – Penalty Shoot-out: 4.70
- Player to be Carded – Frank Onyeka (Nigeria): 2.63
- Half-time Result – Draw: 1.91
So far, just four of the 14 knockout games have gone to penalty shoot-outs. Ivory Coast and Nigeria have each been involved with one already. However, there is a good chance this one could go the distance considering the fact that neither team will want to lose by conceding a late goal.
Match Odds
- Nigeria Win: 2.80
- Draw: 2.95
- Ivory Coast Win: 3.15
