Paulo Dybala has rejected a bid from Saudi Pro League club Al Qadsiah to stay at AS Roma. The Argentine was widely expected to leave in the next couple of days as a deal was said to be getting closer between the two clubs. But in the end, Dybala has decided to stay in Europe with the Italian club.
As is being reported by Fabrizio Romano, Dybala has turned down a €75m package of salary spread over three years. This is massive, life changing money even for footballers, but the Argentine has seemingly gone against what is the current norm of chasing Saudi money.
Dybala finished last season with 13 goals and 9 assists in only 28 games in the league. He has been brilliant for Roma in general, with 34 goals and 18 assists in 78 games. Besides that, he has built a very strong bond with the Roma faithful.
In fact, Dybala has quite the storied Serie A legacy. He has been among the leading players in the league for over a decade now. He started off at Palermo while they were still in the league. Then, he went on to achieve stardom with Juventus, before his current spell at Roma.
With this behind him now, Dybala will prepare for what is expected to be a very exciting new look attack for Roma, featuring new signings Artem Dovbyk and Matias Soule. Whatever happens this season or beyond, Dybala’s decision in rejecting a massive paycheck to remain at Roma, will endear him to their fans even more than what was previously the case.
