Gameweek 25 of the Premier League could well prove to be an important turning point for a number of teams as the season nears its end. Arsenal and Liverpool were involved in massive victories in their clash against Burnley and Brentford respectively while Manchester City and Newcastle United produced classic Premier League thrillers in their respective games.
Rampant Arsenal dominate Burnley while Liverpool maintain their lead at the top
After a massive 6-0 victory over West Ham United in the London Derby, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal were once again involved in a huge win as they absolutely decimated Vincent Kompany’s Burnley at Turf Moor. Bukayo Saka scored another brace while Martin Odegaard, Leandro Trossard, and Midfielder Kai Havertz scored a goal each as the Gunners put five past The Clarets.
With the victory against Burnley, Mikel Arteta’s men now sit in the third position in the table, just two points behind first-placed Liverpool and a point behind second-placed Manchester City. They were also successful in securing a fifth consecutive victory in the Premier League since their defeat against Fulham back in December.
On the other hand, Liverpool continued with their run on top of the Premier League with a comfortable 4-1 victory against an underperforming Brentford side at the Gtech Community Stadium. Another good news for the Reds was the return of Mohamed Salah on the pitch as well as the scoresheet. Cody Gakpo, Forward Darwin Nunez, and Alexis Mac Allister also got their goals while Brentford’s Ivan Toney scored a consolation for his team against a dominant Liverpool side.

Chelsea hold Manchester City at the Etihad while Matt Richie saves the day for the Magpies
Another important game of the Gameweek proved to be Chelsea’s clash against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. After taking a surprise lead against Pep’s side in the first half, it looked like the Blues would be successful in snatching three important points in order to keep their hopes alive for European qualification, but arguably the best midfielder in the world and scorer of the Champions League final, Man City Star Rodri scored once again as City were back on level terms.
With the game ending in a 1-1 draw, the defending Champions have now acquired the second position in with 56 points in 25 games, a point behind table toppers, Liverpool
On the other hand, Newcastle United’s game against Bournemouth also ended in a 2-2 draw, thanks to a stoppage-time goal from Matt Richie. The Magpies have been going through a tough run of form and are currently 8th in the Premier League table with 37 points in 25 games.
The Relegation Battle
While the race for the title has been immensely entertaining this season, the fight to stay afloat in the Premier League is also going to be an interesting battle to look forward to. Luton Town, Burnley, and Sheffield United currently occupy the bottom three positions in the league table respectively and all three were involved in losses over the weekend.
Burnley and Sheffield were trashed 5-0 by the likes of Arsenal and Brighton while a brace from Rasmus Hojlund saw The Red Devils winning the three points at Kenilworth Road. The Hatters still remain in contention to stay in the Premier League this season as they are currently tied with 16th-placed Everton on 20 points with a game in hand.
