Real Madrid considering last push to sign Alphonso Davies

Real Madrid is in no way looking to give up on their hope of signing Canadian left-back Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich this summer. They are likely to bid for him in the final days of the transfer window, leaving the ball in Bayern’s court. Madrid is willing to pay around 30 million euros for what they consider Davies’s worth, as his contract is set to expire next summer. Meanwhile, the Bavarians demand a sum of around 50 million euros.

According to journalist Maximilian Koch, Bayern have decided not to improve their renewal offer for Davies, who is on vacation right now. The 23-year-old will have the final call to renew or not. If he rejects the renewal, Bayern might be forced to sell him rather than take the risk of losing him for free 10 months later.

The German club has already made significant additions to their squad in the left-back position. Hiroki Ito, Raphaël Guerreiro, Adam Aznou, Josip Stanišić, and Noussair Mazraoui (for now) are the players available for the new manager, Vincent Kompany, apart from the Canadian.

Why do Real Madrid want Alphonso Davies?

Real Madrid are looking for an offensive fullback, and Davies fits in perfectly. Earlier in June, Real Madrid contacted Bayern and offered a fee, which the Barvarians were not willing to accept. There are reports that Madrid has allegedly asked Davies to hold off on extending his contract, emulating the approach they followed to sign players like Jude Belligham and Kylian Mbappe.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti said that his squad is now closed after the arrival of Mbappe and Endrick, but if given a chance, Real Madrid will pounce on it to acquire the services of the fullback.
