In that phase, Los Blancos have scored 14 goals and conceded just five as they stretched their lead to the top to six points over Girona. Real’s last game was a disappointing 1-1 draw away to Rayo Vallecano as Daniel Carvajal received a late red card. They were looking to make amends in their next game.

Elsewhere, captain and defender Daniel Carvajal will miss this game after his sending off in the last one. He will mostly be replaced by Lucas Vazquez in the XI.
