Rico Lewis started off at Manchester City’s youth system when he was eight years old. He progressed further and made 29 appearances for the U18 side and 10 for the U21 side. He then signed a professional contract before making his debut in 2022.

He came on as a substitute for Kyle Walker against Bournemouth in August 2022 for his debut. He made his first start in November that year, starting in a 3-1 win over Sevilla in the UEFA Champions League. He also scored in that game, becoming City’s youngest-ever goalscorer in the Champions League at 17 years and 346 days.

Lewis has made a number of senior appearances so far and has numerous trophies to his name as well. He signed a five-year contract in 2023.

International Career

Lewis has played for England U16, U18, U19, and U21 in the youth setup. He then made his senior debut in November 2023 in the UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifier against North Macedonia, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Rico Lewis is the son of Stephanie and former British lightweight champion boxer Rick Lewis. Rick left boxing after Rico was born. He also has a sister named Sacha. Both learned Thai boxing in their younger years from their father but chose to pursue football instead.
