Roma vs Brighton Preview, Prediction and Betting Tips

Roma vs Brighton Match Preview

Italian side AS Roma will host Brighton & Hove Albion at the Stadio Olimpico in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16 on March 7.

The hosts will enter this game on the back of a good run of form. They earned four wins and one draw in their last five, scoring 12 goals in the process. They are fifth in Serie A with 47 points from 27 games. Now, with three wins on the spin, Roma were looking formidable. They saw off Torino’s fight-back to secure a 3-2 win in their last league outing and were looking to repeat the same.

Brighton, on the other hand, have suffered three defeats in their last five games, with one win and one draw. They have scored seven goals in that phase but also conceded seven goals. They are ninth in the Premier League with 39 points from 27 games. The Seagulls fell 3-0 to Fulham in their last outing and Roberto De Zerbi was eager to return to winning ways in the next game.

With that said, let’s take a look at the team news coming from both camps ahead of this game.

Roma vs Brighton Team News

Manager Daniele De Rossi will be without just one key player for this contest. Tammy Abraham injured his cruciate ligament in July 2023 and has missed all of Roma’s games so far. He could make a return to action before the season ends. Gianluca Mancini could also be doubtful for this one after being subbed off injured in the win against Monza last time out.

Elsewhere, Diego Llorente (4) and Lorenzo Pellegrini (4) are one more booking away from being suspended for one game.

Brighton

Manager De Zerbi will be without two wingers ahead of their trip to Rome. Solly March has been sidelined with a knee injury since October 2023, with no set return date. The Seagulls will also be without Kaoru Mitoma, who injured his back a couple of weeks ago. The team did not face any further casualties against Fulham.

Meanwhile, the manager will not have to worry about suspensions for a while with no player at risk as of now.

Roma vs Brighton Head-to-Head Record

This will be the first time ever that AS Roma will face Brighton & Hove Albion in both teams’ histories. Considering the latter have only recently shown their credentials for playing European football, hopefully, the two clubs face off more often in the future.

Roma vs Brighton Prediction

As things stand, Roma have the better run of form as well as a better style of play. Meanwhile, Brighton are stagnating a little over recent weeks.

Additionally, Brighton have lost four of their last five away games, scoring just once and conceding 10 times in those four defeats. This points towards a rather simple win for the hosts.

Prediction: AS Roma 2-1 Brighton & Hove Albion.

Roma vs Brighton Betting Tips & Odds

Both teams have scored in four of Roma’s last five games, while the same has occurred in two of Brighton’s last five games. The Seagulls barely threaten to get on the scoresheet in recent times, while Roma seem to have found their feet under new management.
