Ronald Araujo could be out for two months with a hamstring injury

Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo has left the Copa America tournament after sustaining a hamstring injury in Uruguay’s quarter-final clash against Brazil in the United States. The Catalan giants faced another injury blow after already losing Pedri to an injury last week.

The Uruguayan defender is expected to be sidelined for at least six weeks after picking up a muscular injury which will be a huge blow for Hansi Flick and his team.

How did Araujo suffer an injury while on international duty with Uruguay?

The Barcelona star was forced off after just 30 minutes into the game with Brazil during the Copa America quarter-finals. Araujo already went to the Uruguay camp with a minor that ruled him in the final month of Barcelona’s 2023/24 campaign.

In the 30th minute of the tie, the defender stretched his leg to block Guilherme Arana’s cross into the box. He suffered a muscle injury in his right leg and left the game in tears.

With Hansi Flick’s side starting their pre-season tour in July, it’s highly unlikely that the defender will be a part of the pre-season preparations. Araujo will be out for the start of the season and will be yet another player not available for the beginning of Flick’s tenure.
