Chelsea are scheduled to face Sheffield United at Bramall Lane this Sunday. But the main focus is not the match where The Blues could get their seventh game of their current unbeaten run. It’s the schedule that was changed from the initial hour.
The kick-off was initially set at 1.30 pm BST but later changed to 5.30 pm, the Premier League announced. It was later known that the rescheduling was a request from the home side.
The cause of the rescheduling Sheffield United vs Chelsea
“The Premier League fixture between Sheffield United and Chelsea has been moved from 13:30 to 17:30 BST on Sunday 7 April,” the announcement said via TalkSport. “ This is due to a request from the home Club. This kick-off time has been selected to allow adequate return travel for visiting supporters.”
The main reason for rescheduling was to avoid a potential time clash with the Sheffield Half Marathon which is taking place on the same day. The Blues are high in morale after beating Manchester United 4-3 in a dramatic ending at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea to continue the unbeaten run
Mauricio Pochettino asked his players to stay focused and keep their minds on the game. Chelsea need to win to climb up to mid-table and secure the European spot next season.
“In a few days, we played one game where we showed such low energy,” Pochettino said on the club’s official announcement. “In another, we started the game in the way that we need to start every game.
“I think that for the players it is a good point to realise we need to be ready. On Sunday, we need to be ready. We need to think about recovering and approaching the game in Sheffield with the right mentality, because it’s going to be tough.”
