Sporting CP eager to extend Viktor Gyokeres’ contract

Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyokeres has attracted interest from big European clubs in the run up to the summer transfer window, but the Portuguese club is eager to extend the forward’s contract despite a potential big money transfer.

Viktor Gyokeres contract situation: Sporting eager to extend contract with a massive release clause addition

Viktor Gyokeres arrived at Sporting last summer from Coventry City and has dazzled Portuguese fans with his ability since. The forward has scored a whopping 22 goals in 24 outings in the Portugal Liga, while adding 13 more goals across various cup competitions. His impressive performance in front of goal has naturally turned the heads of several big wigs across Europe who wish to add the killer striker to their roster. However, in an interesting turn of events it seems that Sporting wish to extend Viktor Gyokeres’ contract despite interest across Europe.

According to several sources across Europe, this development is an attempt of Sporting’s management to add a massive release clause of €120 million in the striker’s contract. If Sporting manage to convince the Swedish striker to extend his contract, any big club who is interested in procuring the services of the striker will have to pay at least €120 million to do so.

While there has been no official communication of Sporting offering the Swedish striker a new contract, the Viktor Gyokeres contract situation will be one of the top stories to keep an eye on in the summer. Several clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, BVB Dortmund have allegedly already displayed their interest in signing the 25-year-old.
