Tottenham Hotspur’s top four hope finds a huge wall as Destiny Udogie suffered an injury and will be sidelined for the rest of the season, the club confirmed. The Italian young full-back has become the fans’ favourite this season since coming from Udinese last summer.
Udogie has 30 games and two goals with Spurs this season. His recent game with The Lilywhites was when losing to Newcastle United at St. James’ Park last week, appearing full for 90 minutes.
“We can confirm that Destiny Udogie has undergone surgery to his left quadriceps, having sustained an injury in training earlier this week,” according to Spurs’ official statement. “The defender will continue his rehabilitation with our medical staff and is expected to rejoin the squad during pre-season.”
Destiny Udogie Injury Update: Player stays positive despite his injury
Following the injury, Udogie admitted that he was not down mentally. In his latest Instagram post, the Verona-born youngster thanked everyone who has helped him through in the first season of his English football career.
“The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord,” he started the caption. “An injury brings my season to an early end. It doesn’t take away from how grateful I am to every person that has supported me this year.”
Udogie’s two goals this season came in the league with both of them coming in home games against Newcastle and Brentford. He also appeared twice in the FA Cup, playing all of the 90-minutes in games against Burnley and Manchester City.
