Canadian forward Tajon Buchanan is reportedly on the verge of a transfer to Italian club Inter Milan, with negotiations between his current team, Club Brugge, and Inter reaching a potential €10 million deal, according to European soccer insider Fabrizio Romano.
Inter Milan Sporting Director Piero Ausilio has played a pivotal role in the pursuit of the Canadian international, having identified Buchanan as a long-term target. Ausilio personally led negotiations, sealing the deal that could see Buchanan make a move to Serie A.
Tajon Buchanan to complete his Inter Milan Medical soon
While the transfer is yet to be finalized, Buchanan’s medical is expected to take place in the coming days. The 24-year-old is anticipated to join Inter Milan for an initial fee of around €7 million, with the potential for the total amount to reach €10 million, including additional performance-related add-ons.
The agreement is set to be a permanent move, with Inter initially proposing a paid loan deal with a purchase option, a structure Brugge preferred to bypass in favour of an outright sale.
Inter’s interest in Buchanan grew during the World Cup in Qatar, where Ausilio closely observed the Canadian’s impressive performances. The Sporting Director had been monitoring Buchanan’s displays for Brugge and sees him as an ideal fit for the right side of Inter’s 3-5-2 system.

The timing of Inter’s move for Buchanan is partly attributed to Juan Cuadrado’s absence due to surgery, creating a need for reinforcements. Ausilio had already approached Brugge for Buchanan in the past, and the potential transfer is expected to be completed in time for the opening of Italy’s Serie A transfer window on Tuesday.
Tajon Buchanan has been a key figure for the Canadian national team, contributing to their qualification for the last World Cup. He joined Club Brugge in 2021 after starting his career in MLS with the New England Revolution. Inter Milan’s pursuit of Buchanan reflects their strategic focus on bolstering their squad for the second half of the season.
