Legendary Arsenal player Thierry Henry has backed his former side to win the Premier League title but insists they will need to find a way to compete and win against Manchester City. According to Henry, Arsenal are not far from winning the Premier League title, but suggests the team lacks winning belief. While speaking to former teammate Freddie Ljungberg, Henry also compared his time to the present time and how they got over the line to win the Premier League.

Need to find a way to compete
“You will have to compete against Man City. We had to compete against Sir Alex Ferguson. You will have to find a way to compete with what you have in front of you, one of the best teams in history. For me there is not a lot missing, it’s just the knowing you can win,” Henry said while speaking to Ljungberg.
Arsenal for the second consecutive season finished second in the Premier League with Manchester City winning the title on both occasions. Compared to last season, Arsenal gave a tough fight to Man City, but Pep Guardiola’s men won the title on the final day with 91 points. The Gunners on the flip side ended with 89 points and were left fuming despite losing only one Premier League match in 2024.
Compared to his time, Henry stated that his side found a way to compete against Manchester United, who were led by the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson. He stated that his side found a winning formula while also insisting on the current crop to get the winning belief.
During his stay at Arsenal, Henry won the Premier League title on two occasions while Ferguson’s United won the title in three consecutive seasons between 1999 and 2001.
Can Arsenal end Man City’s reign as champions?
Arsenal will be hoping to go one further this time and find the missing piece in the puzzle to win the title. Not since Henry’s planning days in 2004 have Arsenal won the Premier League title while they haven’t won an end-of-season trophy since the 2020 FA Cup when they beat Chelsea in the final.
Under Mikel Arteta, the Gunners have improved massively and will look to invest in the transfer market again to get over the line. Last season they signed Declan Rice who has helped the team reach new heights, while another world-class signing should see the North London side close to ending Man City’s reign as champions of England.
