Aston Villa are reportedly contemplating joining the race to sign RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner in the upcoming January transfer window. Currently enjoying their best campaign in three decades, Villa are positioned as a strong contender for the Premier League title and have also progressed to the last 16 of the Europa Conference League.

Despite a recent 1-1 draw with Sheffield United preventing them from taking the top spot, Villa sits comfortably in second place between Arsenal and Liverpool. The club’s impressive form in both domestic and European competitions has led to considerations of reinforcing the squad in the midseason transfer window.

While manager Unai Emery has creative options in the final third with players like Moussa Diaby, Leon Bailey, and Nicolo Zaniolo, the absence of Emiliano Buendia, recovering from a serious knee injury, prompts the need for additional alternatives.

Timo Werner to Aston Villa on Loan – A Possibility?

According to Football Insider, Aston Villa are showing interest in enticing Timo Werner back to the Premier League. Werner’s stint with Chelsea drew mixed opinions, contributing 10 goals and 13 assists in 56 Premier League appearances, often playing from the flanks or as a substitute.

In his second season back at RB Leipzig, Werner has seen a significant drop in playing time, making just two starts and 10 substitute appearances in the Bundesliga and Champions League. Reports indicate that Leipzig are open to a potential departure, possibly on loan, with Werner attracting interest from several clubs.

West Ham United, Fulham, and Crystal Palace have also been linked with the 27-year-old forward. As the January transfer window approaches, Aston Villa is reportedly gearing up to make an effort to secure the signing of Timo Werner, who faces a decision between returning to the Premier League to prove himself or exploring opportunities in mainland Europe.
