Tottenham Hotspur defender Van de Ven set to return for Luton clash, confirms Postecoglu

Van de Ven is in line to face the Tangerines this weekend

Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven is set to return for their Premier League clash with Luton Town on Saturday. The centre-back had succumbed to a hamstring injury during their 4-0 league win over Aston Villa on 10 March, and had been sidelined ever since.

In a huge development, Spurs manager Ange Postecoglu has now confirmed that the Dutchman is set to return to action for their weekend’s clash at home. His availability will bolster the head coach’s defensive options, especially with Van de Ven impressing for the side.

Signed on a €50 million transfer from VfL Wolfsburg last summer, Van de Ven has slotted into the squad rather comfortably. He averages 2.8 clearances per game in the league, with another 1.7 tackles. His impeccable passing range has been on full display with Van de Ven averaging 95.3% pass completion rate so far.

Interestingly, his only goal for the side in the league so far, has come against their next opposition, Luton. The Dutchman was the lone scorer that night at the Kenilworth Road as Sours beat the Tangerines 1-0.

Besides, forward Richarlison is another player who is back in contention after recovering from his knee injury that ruled him out of this month’s friendly games for Brazil. But on the other hand, goalkeeper Fraser Forster, along with Manor Solomon and Ryan Sessegnon, are all out for the long-term.

Tottenham favorites to beat Luton

Regardless of their injury list right now, Tottenham Hotspur are the favorites to beat Luton Town at home in the Premier League on Saturday. Spurs lost 3-0 to Fulham in their last top-flight match after big wins in consecutive games to Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, but that may not keep them from pulling off a win here, as Luton have struggled immensely on their Premier League debut. With just five wins and 22 points from 29 games, the Tangerines are in 17th position right now, and fighting to stay afloat in the division.
