Tottenham star Ivan Perisic set for a reunion with Hajduk Split

Tottenham Hotspur winger Ivan Perisic is reportedly set to return to Croatian club Hajduk Split in the ongoing transfer window.

Perisic is currently recovering from an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury he suffered in September last year. He is pushing to make a return before May this year and get some playing time before the UEFA Euro 2024.

At the club level, meanwhile, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Croatian winger is now set to return to Hajduk Split. The talks between the Croatian side and Tottenham are at advanced stages for a potential loan deal.

Spurs are looking for a six-month loan and with his contract expiring in the summer, Perisic is unlikely to play for the north London side again.

Perisic arrived at Tottenham on a free transfer after leaving Inter Milan ahead of the 2022-23 season. He played as a left wing-back under Antonio Conte before returning to his preferred winger position this season. He has scored one goal and provided 14 assists in 50 games for Spurs across competitions.

Tottenham’s current manager Ange Postecoglou also recently confirmed that Perisic is unlikely to play for the club again, saying (via Sports Illustrated):

“He’s working hard, to be fair to Ivan. He’s obviously got some national team commitments and he wants to get back as quickly as possible. He’s been a significant loss for us.”

“I thought this year he was going to be a really significant contributor because of his experience, and we saw that in the first few games in the way he impacted games. But he won’t, in all likelihood, play for us again.”

Perisic is one of the most experienced players out there and his journey began with Hajduk Split’s youth academy. He has played for numerous clubs like Club Brugge, Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, and Bayern Munich.

The 34-year-old has won one UEFA Champions League trophy, two Bundesliga titles, and one Serie A title, among other honors.

He has also been a key player for Croatia, especially in big tournaments, contributing 33 goals and 30 assists in 129 games for them.
