According to ‘Africa Foot’ and further backed by ‘Hammers News’, Premier League’s West Ham United has placed a bid of around £13 million for Chelsea’s David Datro Fofana. The Stamford-Bridge-based club bought Fofana from Norwegian side Molde in the earlier part of 2023. The transfer fee involved was reported to be around £8 million.
David Datro Fofana spent last season on loan at Burnley before they got relegated back to the Championship. The 21-year-old Ivorian striker netted four times for Burnley during his loan spell playing a sum of 15 matches. He hasn’t scored for Chelsea in his career till now.
The thing that stands out about his game is his physical presence, and the ability to link up with his teammates inside the final third. His finishing has improved in recent times also. If West Ham manages to sign him around about their first bid, he could turn out to be a decent bit of business for them leading into the new season.
Under Julen Lopetegui, David Datro Fofana can stand a chance to be given an opportunity to prove his worth. Also, with West Ham’s current situation regarding the strikers’ position, they don’t have a certain player to rely on that spot as of now. With players like Danny Ings, and Michael Antonio’s future up in the air, Fofana could be the answer to the Hammers’ worries.
