Giant-killers Jordan will look to win their maiden AFC Asian Cup as they face hosts and defending champions Qatar in the final on Saturday, February 10 at the Lusail Stadium.

Jordan have put in an impressive showing at the tournament so far. They qualified for the knockouts as one of the best third-placed teams, having finished behind Bahrain and South Korea in Group E. However, they made the most of their luck and have been phenomenal since.

Houcine Ammouta’s men have played fearless football as they embark on a quest to etch their names in the history books. They defeated Iraq 3-2 in an intense round of 16 game that saw the Iraqis receive one red card.

After that, Jordan secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Tajikistan in the quarters, before causing one of the upsets of the tournament. They knocked South Korea out with a spirited 2-0 win to advance to their first-ever AFC Asian Cup final. Having come so far, they will look to put their best foot forward against the host nation.

Qatar, on the other hand, have been in remarkable form for a few months now. They have won nine of their last 10 games across competitions, with the only other co-incidentally being a 2-1 defeat against Jordan.

The hosts have been clinical in front of goal so far, winning all six of their games and scoring 11 goals in the process. They qualified as winners of Group A, having won all three games. They then knocked Palestine out in the round of 16, Uzbekistan in the quarters after penalties, and then Iran in the semi-finals in a thrilling encounter.

Manager Tintin Marquez will look to win his first major trophy with Qatar since taking over. Having lost to Jordan earlier, he will hope the home support helps the team cross the hurdle.
