As per John Percy of ‘The Telegraph UK’, Wolves have enlisted a high price tag of £60 million on their star Portuguese winger Pedro Neto. The Journalist has also laid down that the Old Gold would not need to go on a selling spree like they did last summer to keep in check with the PSR and FFP rules. But, a sale of one of their well-known assets can aid their manager, Gary O’Neil, towards revitalizing their first-team squad in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Percy also inflicted that Premier League clubs such as Man City and Newcastle United are interested in the Portuguese player. Man City has been linked with Pedro Neto throughout the 2023-2024 Premier League season. It is worth mentioning that the 24-year-old played a huge role in Wolves’ 2-1 victory over Man City at Molineux in the earlier part of the most recent Premier League campaign.
As far as Newcastle United are concerned, it is not the first time that they have been tipped to be interested in one of the bigger players from Wolves. Earlier, it was also touted in the English media that, the Toons were interested in landing Ruben Neves as well after he moved to the Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal from Wolverhampton.
While Pedro Neto could prove to be a crucial player for either of the managers, Pep Guardiola or Eddie Howe, it remains to be seen how this one progresses in the summer with the recent strict PSR and FFP rules surrounding the club’s transfer market activities. Also, the Wolves might be forced to lower their asking price a bit, as Neto had been out for a major chunk of the season due to persistent injury woes.
Pedro Neto impressed with Wolves in an injury marked 2023-2024 Premier League campaign
Pedro Neto was one of the most impressive players from the Wolves’s hierarchy in the 2023–2024 top-flight season. Alongside Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan, he stood out as one of the most potent forwards for the Midlands-based side this season. The 24-year-old registered two goals and nine assists in his 20 league appearances for Gary O’Neil’s side. If it weren’t for his injury worries one could only wonder where the Wolves would have ended up in the final table standings.
Neto suffered two hamstring blows this season while playing for Wolves. His second hamstring injury suffered against Fulham proved to be a major one, as he missed all of the club’s following matches after that, and only managed to make a substitute appearance on the last matchday of the campaign in the Old Golds’ trip to Anfield to face Liverpool.
