Neymar to Inter Miami? Brazilian star Neymar Jr. hopes for a reunion with Leo Messi

Brazilian star Neymar recently expressed his desire to reunite with former teammate Leo Messi while speaking to ESPN Argentina. The Brazilian is currently out for the season with a knee injury.

Neymar and Leo Messi: A dynamic duo

Neymar and Leo Messi have forged a deep bond ever since their playing days at Barcelona. The duo played together at the Spanish club for four years (2013-2017) before the Brazilian decided to move on to PSG. During their union at Barcelona, the duo combined for more than a whopping 50 goals. Accompanied by Luis Suarez, the duo of Neymar and Messi led Barcelona to a treble. They also won the La Liga twice while winning one Champions League in 2015.

More recently, the duo rekindled their partnership at PSG when Leo Messi left Barcelona to join the Parisian club. Unfortunately for the duo, Neymar sustained an injury in the first season and was ruled out for a while. Even when he was fit, the duo failed to recreate their Barcelona performances. Leo Messi and Neymar did end up winning Ligue 1 twice before both left the club last summer. Leo joined MLS club Inter Miami, while Neymar shifted to Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League.

Neymar to Leo Messi’s Inter Miami?

Life hasn’t started off great for 30-year-old Neymar in the Saudi Pro League. The skillful Brazilian sustained a season ending injury just a month into the campaign and has been ruled out till June.

While talking to ESPN Argentina recently during his off time from football, the Brazilian said “Me and Messi playing together again? I hope so, I hope we will get to play together again. He’s a great person, everyone knows him. I think he’s happy (in Miami), and if he’s happy, I’m happy too.” Inter Miami currently has been on a spree of collecting iconic Barcelona players to don their jerseys. Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets all joined the club this season to recreate a portion of the legendary 2015 Champions League-winning Barca side. Currently, Neymar is still under contract at Al Hilal
