Real Madrid, Alphonso Davies

Real Madrid target Alphonso Davies’ agent reportedly met with Barcelona sporting director

According to Jijantes FC, Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies’ agent met with Barcelona sporting director Deco, amidst the left-back’s links with Real Madrid.

Los Blancos have been heavily linked with a move for Davies in the summer. They currently have Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia in the left-back position. They have made 23 and 24 appearances across competitions this season but have failed to make a big impact.

Hence, Real Madrid are looking to sign Davies in the summer, with his contract expiring in 2025. As per Transfermarkt, his market value is €20 million.

However, Jijantes FC have now reported that Davies’ agent recently met with Barcelona’s hierarchy as the report said:

“Summit in Barcelona between Deco and the representative of Alphonso Davies!

The Bayern player’s agent was in Madrid and the next day he met with Barça’s sporting director. The Canadian ends his contract in June 2025.”

Barcelona currently have Alejandro Balde in the left-back position, who has made 28 appearances across competitions this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist. Joao Cancelo also deputizes in the position at times.

Meanwhile, Davies has been excellent for Bayern Munich over the years, having scored nine goals and provided 28 assists in 180 games for the German giants. The Canadian left-back came through Vancouver Whitecaps FC’s academy before joining Bayern in 2019.

The 23-year-old defender has made 27 appearances across competitions this season, scoring one goal and providing three assists.

Davies looks set to leave Bayern in the summer despite multiple contract extension attempts made by the club. He has been heavily linked with Real Madrid but it will be interesting to see if Barcelona attempt to hijack a potential deal.

Barca currently have uncertainty over their new manager, though, with Xavi Hernandez announcing that he will leave at the end of the season. This could perhaps play a role in any potential signings.
