Real Madrid Takes a Cautious Approach in Pursuing PSG Star Kylian Mbappe

PSG forward Kylian Mbappe has decided to leave the club this summer at the end of his contract. Although it’s extendable by another year, the 25-year-old is confirmed to depart Parc des Princes with Real Madrid as the frontrunner for his signatures.

The Parisians are now set to lose their biggest star for absolutely free of cost, even as Madrid’s offer will be much less than theirs. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported on Friday that Los Blancos want Mbappe to join them on their terms for having rejected their proposal in 2022. This also means he’d draw a lesser salary too.

Nonetheless, the Frenchman knows all too well that this could perhaps be his last chance of sealing a dream move to the Santiago Bernabeu, where’s long touted to end up. According to reports emerging from Spain, Real Madrid aren’t pushing for a deal much and waiting on the player, even as other clubs might get involved.

Mbappe’s departure will be a huge blow to PSG, whose Champions League project could take a hit once more. The Ligue 1 champions invested heavily in building a star-studded squad, only to see their stellar names leave one by one. Lionel Messi left for Inter Miami last summer, followed by Neymar to Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal. Mbappe was the last remaining piece of the acclaimed trio but thought of as the man to carry them to their maiden European glory.

However, those dreams will now remain unfulfilled, unless the World Cup winner miraculously guides them to the Champions League title in May. Mbappe joined PSG in a big-money move from AS Monaco in 2017 and has since netted 243 goals in 290 games. His goalscoring brilliance has guided them to 13 titles, including five in the league.
