Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies linked with Real Madrid

Real Madrid target Alphonso Davies’ salary demands revealed amidst contract talks with Bayern Munich

Real Madrid have been highly linked with a potential summer move for Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies. The left-back’s contract with the German side is set to expire in 2025. If he doesn’t sign a new contract soon, the Bavarians could look to sell Davies in the summer to avoid letting him leave for free in 2025.

As per journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern are in talks with Davies and his representatives for a potential contract extension but their offer doesn’t meet his demands. The fullback wants wages worth around €20 million per year, a sum the German side are unwilling to pay.

The Bavarians are unwilling to pay this amount and are still trying to negotiate the amount and other terms. Club CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen had recently spoken about the situation and said on BILD:

“He is a player who has developed excellently on the left side thanks to his pace and character. We are in talks with his agent. Now Max will get involved. It depends on how Max and Christoph see the future.”

Meanwhile, board member Max Eberl had also added:

“Jan-Christian and Christoph have had discussions. I will try to continue the conversation. No club wants to lose players for free. I have to see how the situation is.”

As per Florian Plettenburg’s report, though, it is looking unlikely that Bayern and Davies will come to an agreement for a contract extension. If it doesn’t happen, the German side will look to sell the Canadian fullback in the summer.

They will demand around €50-60 million for him, with Real Madrid highly interested. Los Blancos, though will start negotiating with a low offer.

Alphonso Davies could be a huge signing for Real Madrid

Davies is only 23 years old but has already made 181 appearances for Bayern Munich, scoring nine goals and providing 28 assists. He joined the club from Canadian side Vancouver FC in 2019. He is known for his speed and his attacking ability down the left flank.

If Real Madrid sign him, Davies could form a lethal partnership with Vinicius Jr., who is regarded as one of the best attackers in the world.

Los Blancos currently have Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia as left-backs. The latter has failed to impress while Mendy is known more for his defensive ability than his attacking prowess. He is expected to serve as a second choice if Real Madrid sign Davies while Fran Garcia is expected to depart.
