While Barcelona started their goalless draw against Athletic Club with their strongest available squad, the La Liga giants didn’t finish the game the same way. The club lost both Frenkie de Jong and Pedri half-way through the first half to various injuries and it has many fans concerned. In the days following the draw, Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez has confirmed that both midfielders will be out for a month.
It only adds to the club’s injury issues as Pedri and De Jong join the likes of Alejandro Balde, Marcos Alonso, Gavi and Ferran Torres on the physio’s table. But, the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Ilkay Gundogan, young Fermin Lopez and even Raphinha are fully fit. However, reports have indicated that Barcelona have received another blow after they got a Lamine Yamal injury update.

Lamine Yamal dealing with discomfort in his knee
The 16-year-old has been a sensation this term with 12 goal contributions despite the club managing his minutes because of his age. Yamal only made his debut for the club in April 2023 and has already made 37 appearances for the first team, with a large majority of that coming this season. However, while the Catalan giants have been managing the Spaniard’s minutes, their injury issues has changed that.
It has seen the 16-year-old start six out of the club’s last eight games, playing the full 90 in all six and it has reported affected the forward. Sport has revealed that Yamal is currently dealing with a problem in his knee and the club’s medical team are rightly concerned. Barcelona received a Lamine Yamal injury update after their draw against Athletic Club and are prepared to take precautions.
The report has indicated that Xavi wants Yamal to play in the second leg against Napoli but won’t rush back the teenage sensation as he wants to ensure the 16-year-old recovers properly. If the forward isn’t fit though, it does cause Barcelona a few issues given their growing injury list.
