SAUDI PRO LEAGUE Al-RIYADH SC OVERVIEW
The Al Riyadh Club was founded in the year of 1953. The club achieved its earliest feat by entering the finals of the King’s Cup in the years 1962 and 1978. Al Riyadh saw its golden era during the time span of the 1990s. Under the fabulous guidance of the Brazilian coach Zumario and the extraordinary skills of players such as Khalid Al-Qarouni, Talal Al-Jabreen, Yasser Al-Taafi and Fahd Al-Hamdan, the club won its maiden title of Crown Prince Cup in 1994.
After this feat, the club was hardly able to reach the finals of Asian Cup Winners in the year 1998, where the club was ultimately defeated by its rival Al Ahli. However, this was the last greatest performance of the club and it was ultimately relegated in the 2004-05 season. Regardless, due to the inclusion of additional teams in the 2023-24 season and securing the 4th spot under the Saudi First Division League during the 2023-24 season, the club is yet again able to become a part of the prestigious Saudi Pro League.
