BREAKING: Sergio Aguero to make sensational return to football after an all-clear from medical professionals

In a lovely turn of events, former Manchester City and Barcelona striker Sergio Aguero has been cleared to play football again. This is as per reports from Argentine outlet DSports Radio.

The Argentine had to step away from Barca and take early retirement in 2022 following detection of heart arrythmia. However, in a positive turn of events, he will start training with boyhood club Independiente, managed by former teammate Carlos Tevez.

Tevez and the club are keen to see whether Aguero can still play professional football. They will create a program to ease the striker into action and will evaluate whether he is fit enough to return professionally.

While it could take some time before he gets near to a decent level, this is positive news for the player and his close family. Returning after over 24 months of inactivity is no mean feat, let alone after suffering from a heart condition.

Reminiscing Sergio Aguero’s legendary career

As the Argentine icon gets closer to returning to the football pitch, let’s take a look back at his origin story.

Aguero made his debut for Independiente aged just 15 back in July 2003, becoming the youngest ever to do so. He made 56 appearances for the club, scoring a stunning 23 goals and providing one assist. Seeing his raw potential, he was signed by Atletico Madrid for €20 million in May 2006.

He had five successful seasons with Atleti, developing into a complete striker who was lethal inside the box. He made 234 appearances for the club, scoring 101 goals and providing 45 assists. Then came his defining move to Manchester City for €38 million in 2011.

Sergio Aguero spent 11 glorious years in Manchester, becoming City’s all-time top scorer with 260 goals in 390 appearances. He won a whopping 15 trophies with the club. The list included five Premier League titles, one FA Cup and six Carabao Cups. He cemented his legendary status at the club with his iconic Premier League-winning goal in the 2011-12 season.

In 2021, Aguero joined Barcelona on a two-year contract. However, his stint was abruptly cut short following his diagnosis. Aguero made just five appearances for Barca and scored one goal.

Now, the legendary striker has the opportunity to return to the sport at 35 and see where it takes him.
