Football is the most popular spot in the world, and it undoubtedly draws a lot of money. The sport has over 3.5 billion viewers worldwide, with European football clubs having a significant chunk of it.
With an increase in revenue, the players have started drawing crazy salaries, which have skyrocketed in recent years. Without further ado, here are the highest-paid footballers in Europe:
David Alaba
In an era where attackers dominate individual awards and laurels, it is a surprise to see David Alaba in the top 5. The Austrian moved from Bayern Munich on a free transfer in 2021 and was handed a massive contract.
As per a report in talkSPORT, he earns a whopping £1.61 million per month at Santiago Bernabeu. The wages are just £100,000 over what Robert Lewandowski draws at Barcelona since his move to the Catalan side from Bayern Munich.
Erling Haaland
Erling Haaland officially earns reported wages of £1.63 million every month at Manchester City. That sees him pocket just over £400,000 per week, but the Daily Mail claim the Premier League champions are paying more than double of it.
In a report published back in 2022, the Norwegian star gets a lot of bonuses in his contract and that helps him earn a lot more than his base wages. The publication reports that the former Borussia Dortmund star gets close to 45 million per year!

Kevin de Bruyne
Just ahead of Erling Haaland is his Manchester City teammate Kevin de Bruyne. The Belgian signed a new deal at Etihad in 2021, which expires in the summer of 2025.
The talkSPORT report suggests the midfielder gets £1.7 million per month, and that makes him the third highest-paid player in Europe. He has interest from Saudi Arabia this summer, which will help him more than double the wages.
Harry Kane
Harry Kane was not close to the highest paid player in the Premier League, but the move to Bayern Munich got him close to the top of the list in Europe. The Englishman earns a reported £1.8 million in base wages, and he has taken to the German club like a duck in water.

Kylian Mbappe
Kylian Mbappe is on massive wages at PSG that sees him earn almost triple of what the second highest-paid player in Europe gets. As per the report in talkSPORT, the Frenchman gets a whopping £5.2 million, but that comes to an end this summer.
The striker is leaving PSG when his deal expires and reports suggest he is close to joining Real Madrid. The move would see him earn closer to David Alaba, than Harry Kane.
