New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra suffered a nasty injury during the tri-series ODI against Pakistan at Gaddafi Stadium. He was hit on the forehead while attempting a catch but was reported to be doing well.

Ravindra was fielding at deep square leg in the 37th over when Khushdil Shah hit a high shot. As Ravindra tried to take the catch, he appeared to lose sight of the ball due to the stadium lights. The ball struck him hard on the forehead, causing a deep cut. He was seen kneeling on the ground, with blood running down his face.



Medical staff rushed to the field immediately. The stadium fell silent as a stretcher was brought in, though it wasn’t needed in the end. Ravindra received treatment on the ground before getting up with medical assistance and walking off with a towel pressed to his face.

What did New Zealand Cricket say about Rachin Ravindra’s injury?

New Zealand Cricket later confirmed that Ravindra suffered a forehead laceration but received treatment at the stadium and is otherwise fine.

“Ravindra was forced from the field after being struck on the forehead while attempting a catch in the 38th over,” NZC said in a statement.

“He has been treated and is doing well. He passed his first Head Injury Assessment (HIA) and will continue to be monitored.”

Cricket fans are now eagerly waiting for his quick recovery, as the IPL is approaching and he is part of the Chennai Super Kings squad.
