4 | Joao Pedro | Brighton & Hove Albion | £5.7m | 75 points | Ipswich Town |
5 | Liam Delap | Ipswich Town | £5.6m | 80 points | Brighton & Hove Albion |
5. Liam Delap – Ipswich Town | 80 points | £5.6m
Liam Delap is in tremendous form at the moment. His father was a Premier League cult hero in his own right, but the younger Delap has been insistent on making a name for himself in the big leagues this season. He has now scored 8 goals and assisted 2 meaning he has directly contributed to 50% of Ipswich’s goals in the Premier League. Sometimes it does seem that he is carrying the team on his own, with some really complete performances. Delap could make Brighton’s leaky defence pay this weekend, based on his ability and current form.

4. Joao Pedro – Brighton & Hove Albion | 75 points | £5.7m
Joao Pedro can be a very interesting asset for Fantasy Premier League managers. The Brazilian although only 23 has already managed to captain 2 English clubs. Ever since he signed for Brighton, he has emerged as a leader, with a lot of their attacks flowing through him in every game. Although Brighton have had an up-and-down season, Joao Pedro has been a leading figure still. He has 5 goals and 5 assists in the league so far this season. Brighton aren’t in the best run of form but they face Ipswich Town this weekend and Pedro could be expected to do some damage.
3. Jhon Duran – Aston Villa | 51 points | £5.8m
If there is one word to describe Jhon Duran, it is probably mercurial. He is returning this weekend from a suspension that many have deemed unfair. It is expected that he will take back his starting berth immediately for Aston Villa. The Colombian is a phenomenal striker of the ball, probably one of the very best in the Premier League. Duran was in ridiculous form as well, scoring in 4 matches consecutively before the unfair red card. Villa plays Everton and although the Toffees can be solid defensively, with Duran you can expect good points. Another interesting thing to note here is that Duran has been gathering interest from the big clubs with reports in Spain suggesting that Barcelona have been talking to his agents.
2. Alexander Isak – Newcastle | 119 points | £9.3m
Alexander Isak is in outstanding form presently. Newcastle had inconsistently started the season but they are tremendous at the moment. They have won 7 games on the trot, including their last three being scalps of Manchester United, Spurs and Arsenal. Isak has scored in 6 of 7 of these games. The Swedish striker has scored 13 goals this season and contributed 4 assists, and lately, he has attained remarkable form. This weekend, Newcastle will be up against a Manchester United side that has experienced defensive problems this season. Expect Isak to score, considering his current form.
1. Erling Haaland – Manchester City | 123 points | £14.8m
Recently Manchester City seems to have hit a somewhat decent run of form once again, now picking up 2 wins in 2 games after a run of 13 games which brought just a solitary win. Somewhat predictably, City’s form has been spearheaded by none other than Erling Haaland. Although Manchester City’s poor run of form coincided with a bad spell for him too, he has now seemingly turned it around with 3 goals in the 2 City wins. Haaland has also lost some ground to Mo Salah in the race for the Golden Boot and is currently 2 goals behind. These could easily come against Brentford, who City play this weekend.
As we turn our attention to Gameweek 21, the Premier League has a thrilling set of fixtures lined up. The highlight of the weekend is the North London derby between Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal. Both sides are in desperate need of a win with the pressure now mounting on the managers of both sides. Interestingly, the rivals are also both ravaged by injuries.
The deadline for GW21 is on January 14th.
