Ipswich Town vs Crystal Palace Preview

  • Tournament: Premier League
  • Date: Tuesday, December 3, 2024
  • Time: 7:30 pm GMT
  • Venue: Portman Road

Ipswich Town will host Crystal Palace in an important Premier League clash for both sides on Tuesday, December 3. Both sides have had a tough start to the 2024-25 campaign.

Ipswich earned promotion to the Premier League this season but has struggled to earn results in the top flight. They are 18th in the table with just one win in 12 games along with six draws and five defeats. They are level on points with Wolves in 17th but behind on goal difference.

Crystal Palace, meanwhile, have had a poor 2024-25 season so far. They have won just one of their 12 league games, losing six and drawing five. They are 19th in the standings, a point behind Ipswich. Hence, a win on Tuesday could be massive for either team in the relegation battle.

Notably, Ipswich are set to face Nottingham Forest away and Crystal Palace are set to face Newcastle at home on November 30 before facing each other. Hence, their league positions and team news could change.

The former Manchester City striker has garnered plenty of attention following his performances for Ipswich Town this season. Liam Delap came through City’s academy and also made six appearances for them, scoring a goal.

He joined Ipswich in the summer and has been excellent for them in leading the line. He has scored six goals and provided one assist in 12 Premier League games this season. His strong and determined performances have seen him being linked with a number of top clubs in England, including a potential return to Man City in January.

Ismaila Sarr

Since joining Crystal Palace from Marseille in the summer, Ismaila Sarr has massively struggled like the rest of the team. He failed to provide any goal contribution in 14 games across competitions.

However, he registered a goal and an assist in the Eagles’ 2-2 draw away against Aston Villa in their last game. He will hope to take confidence from it and build on this momentum. Moreover, with the likes of Eze and Kamada unavailable, Palace will look to Sarr to create in attack against Ipswich.

Ipswich Town vs Crystal Palace Prediction

Both sides have struggled for points this season but have put in some impressive displays at times. They recently secured their first and only league wins of the season – both against Tottenham Hotspur.

Ipswich are unbeaten in their last three Premier League games. They drew 1-1 against Leicester and beat Tottenham 1-2 before drawing 1-1 against Manchester United. They will face Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Crystal Palace, meanwhile, are winless in their last three league games. They drew 2-2 against Wolves, lost 2-0 against Fulham and then drew 2-2 against Aston Villa. They will face Newcastle on Saturday.

It’s vital for both sides that they take points from sides closer to them in the table at least to avoid relegation. Hence, it’s a crucial match. With Ipswich having a home advantage, and Crystal Palace having loads of injuries, the Tractor Boys should be able to seal a win.

Predicted Score: Ipswich Town 2-1 Crystal Palace
