Southampton vs Bournemouth Preview

  • Competition: Premier League.
  • Date: Saturday, February 15.
  • Time: 3:00 PM GMT.
  • Venue: St. Mary’s Stadium.

Southampton vs Bournemouth will take place at the St. Mary’s Stadium in the middle kick-off slot on matchday 25 of the Premier League season on February 15.

The Saints are rock-bottom in the league with just nine points from 24 games so far. They are nine points from safety and would need a miracle to stay up come May. Their last five results are a reflection of how their season has been, with four defeats and one win across competitions. In those games, Southampton have scored six and conceded 11 goals. They lost 1-0 to Burnley in their last match in the FA Cup and will look to do better than that.

The Cherries, on the other hand, are flying high in seventh place with 40 points from 24 games so far. Their recent form has also been decent and they are in a great position to qualify for European football next season. Their last five results across competitions have been three wins, one draw and one defeat, scoring 13 and conceding just five goals. Their 2-0 away with at Everton in the FA Cup last time out will have given them a boost and they will look to carry that forward.

On that note, here is the team news coming out of both camps.

Manager Ivan Juric fielded a strong lineup in his team’s last Premier League game as they defeated Ipswich 2-1 away from home. Most of the players played well but there were a few injuries to report. Jack Stephens and Welington picked up knocks but should be okay to return.

However, the Saints will be without four players for their upcoming match. Flynn Downes (knock), Ross Stewart (calf), Ryan Fraser (physical discomfort) and Taylor Harwood-Bellis (ankle) will all miss out as they continue to recover.
