LA Galaxy defeated the New York Red Bulls 2-1 in the MLS Cup final at the Dignity Health Sports Park, California to win it for a record 6th time. Early goals from Joseph Paintsil and Dejan Joveljic helped the side claim the crown. Two goals in the opening quarter proved to be decisive with hosts showing their clinical side.
New York tried to get back into the game and pulled one back with Sean Nealis stroking home a sweetly timed volley around the half-hour mark. Despite both the teams pushing hard to get another goal in the game none got the taste of it and LA Galaxy ended up winning the title in their 10th final appearance.
