West Ham hosted Arsenal at the London Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday, November 30 and fell to a humiliating 5-2 defeat against their rivals.
The Gunners made a stunning start to the first half. They opened the scoring in the 10th minute as Gabriel Magalhaes scored a header. Leandro Trossard then doubled Arsenal’s lead in the 27th minute. Martin Odegaard converted a spot-kick in the 34th minute, and Kai Havertz rounded off the first-half carnage to make it four after 36 minutes. West Ham scored two goals but Arsenal hit a fifth and led 5-2 at the break.
Much unlike the first half, the game simmered down in the second period as both teams sat back a bit. Both managers made alterations with their next few games in mind, resulting in both Arsenal and West Ham slowing down their play.
