AC Milan Injury Update: Samuel Chukwueze’s season may be over after suffering a thigh injury

AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze could miss the rest of his team’s games in Serie A after suffering a serious thigh injury. The Nigerian underwent tests following Milan’s 5-1 win over Cagliari in their last game, resulting in the diagnosis that will sideline him.

Samuel Chukwueze Injury: Extent & Expected Return

Chukwueze started in AC Milan’s game against Cagliari and put in a decent performance in the first period as his team carried a 1-0 lead into half-time. However, he did not make it out for the second half and was replaced by Rafael Leao.

Reports from MilanNews (via OneFootball) suggest that Chukwueze underwent tests at the club’s Milanello facilities, confirming a first-degree injury to the biceps femoris muscle of the left thigh. This muscle is crucial in the movement of the hips and knees, meaning the player will need extra caution before being declared fit to train or play.

The exact severity of the injury will be determined after monitoring Chukwueze for a few days. However, with just two games left in the ongoing Serie A campaign, AC Milan will most likely be without him for the run-in. As a result, the Nigerian will miss the Rossoneri’s trip to Turin to face Torino, as well as the final-day clash against Salernitana at home.

Samuel Chukwueze has made 33 appearances for Milan this season across competitions and has scored and assisted three goals apiece. The 24-year-old will look to return stronger for the start of the next season.

Stefano Pioli will be quite relieved his player’s injury occurred towards the end of the season, where the need for depth is not that pertinent. However, AC Milan will still be comfortable without Samuel Chukwueze until the end of the campaign.

He has contributed to just six goals in 33 appearances, with just one goal in 24 Serie A appearances so far this season. Pioli had the luxury of replacing him with Rafael Leao at half-time in the last game, with the Portuguese even bagging a goal after coming on.

Moreover, Milan also has Christian Pulisic in the rotation for wingers and can also deploy him on either side of the pitch.
