However, the Man United manager Erik Ten Hag has dismissed any concerns about Fernandes’ commitment to the Red Devils.
Addressing reporters Ten Hag clarified that Fernandes’ remarks were taken out of context and emphasized the Portuguese international’s dedication to Manchester United.
Ten Hag expressed confidence in Fernandes remaining with the club. Thus, highlighting his integral role and influence both on and off the pitch.
“He is [at] Manchester United and is happy to be here,” affirmed Ten Hag echoing the sentiment that Fernandes is an embodiment of the club’s ethos.
Ten Hag Praises Fernandes
The Dutch manager praised Fernandes’ resilience and leadership qualities and also cited instances where the midfielder displayed unwavering commitment despite physical challenges.
“Taking responsibility is one of the biggest assets top footballers have nowadays to show and to deliver,” Ten Hag added.
“Bruno is a very good example for many other players. He is a real fighter. Last year when we played Brighton in the (FA Cup) semi-final, he played with an ankle that was so thick. It was unbelievable.
“He couldn’t run but he was still on the pitch. He is always available, always delivers and always gives energy to the team. Such assets are necessary to be successful.”
Ten Hag underscored Fernandes’ importance as a role model for his teammates, noting his consistent performance and unwavering dedication even in adverse circumstances.
