Will Jasprit Bumrah play ICC Champions Trophy 2025?

The million-dollar question of whether Jasprit Bumrah will play in The Champions Trophy 2025 or not. His 10 overs quota is the most difficult for any batsman around the world. His availability will boost the morale of the Indian cricket team. Jasprit Bumrah’s return date is yet to be revealed as BCCI will be taking the final decision on the participation of Jasprit Bumrah for the Tournament on 11th February.

Bumrah has had a scan of his back at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru recently. The BCCI’s medical staff will now coordinate with the selectors and the India team management before the decision is taken.

Bumrah was initially selected in the provisional 15-player Squad for the ICC Champions Trophy which was announced on 18th January but till now he has not been able to play any part against England in the ongoing Bilateral tournament, it was assumed that he would play the final ODI against England at Ahmedabad but he traveled to Bengaluru instead.

At the time of the announcement of Provisional Squad for the Champions Trophy, Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar had said Bumrah would not be available for 1st couple of matches of the ODI series against England according to the medical report given by the medical staff of BCCI at that time.

Bumrah has been out of Cricket since he was not able to Bowl in the second innings of the Sydney Test in January. It was understood that he had sustained a stress reaction on his back which required a rest of five weeks to get healed from that.

If there is any chance of him getting available for the later stages of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 then India could choose to keep him in the 15 however he can be replaced later on if he doesn’t get fit by that time.

As per some media reports, India’s right-arm pacer Harshit Rana could be the top contender for replacing Jasprit Bumrah in the Indian team for the Champions Trophy if he doesn’t get fit.
