‘Absolutely Ridiculous’ Jamie Carragher bashes Man City’s Ballon d’Or tifo

In the recent high-voltage European blockbuster match between Man City and Real Madrid, the visitors from the Spanish capital humbled the English champions beating them 3-2 after an epic late comeback in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Playoff at the City of Manchester Stadium on Tuesday.

It proved to be an embarring home outing for the Sky Blues as they gifted their crucial lead in the final moments of the game, wheeling allowing the defending champions Los Blancos to score two goals thanks to Vinicus Jr’s another stellar performance in Europe paved the way to success.

The former Liverpool defender and pundit Jamie Carragher has expressed his annoyance over the absurd Ballon d’Or tifo displayed by the City fans ahead of the kick-off as the Champions League anthem echoed across the Eithad.

The enormous banner unfolded showcasing Rodri holding his Golden Ball and a written message saying, “Stop crying your heart out” directed toward Real Madrid and Vinicius Jr . While calling out their choice to skip the French Award Gala after the City midfielder was revealed as the winner.

During the live coverage of the match on CBS Sports, “It’s ridiculous, we love a laugh and a joke, but what do you gain from that?” Caragher said, “Why annoy people? Wind somebody up? Do it at the end when you knock them out.”

“I don’t know what you get out of it. It’s not funny tonight, you just got beat. If I were a Man City player, that would annoy me, it’s like a jinx. I don’t like stuff like that. Why wind up some of the best players in the world?”

The Liverpool icon also touched upon the Los Blancos’s outrageous decision to not attend the Ballon d’Or award ceremony, he added, “You should act like the proper club, everybody laughed at Real Madrid for not going to the Ballon d’Or. It was embarrassing for a club like Real Madrid. Man City shouldn’t resort to what they’re doing, show some class, a big banner, oh my god.”
