Stadio Pierluigi Penzo is all drama this Sunday as the host faced Roma in the early fixture. Trailing way behind the European places, coming into the match Roma was surely aiming to continue their revival in Serie A. On the other hand, the host teams are stuck deep in the danger puddle.

With only the Europa League to dream for now, Roma’s priorities might have became short, but the woe of being handed a devastating 3-1 loss in the Coppa Italia campaign by the Rossoneri at San Siro is still fresh.
It was a bittersweet moment for the club for sure as the once-owned-by-Roma striker Tammy Abraham scored two goals in the first half which gave the home club a 2-0 cushion in the first half. Even though Dovbyk got one back, it was all in vain as the full-time saw a 3-1 score, kicking Roma out of the competition.
On the other side, the news are not really delightful. Winless in 2025 so far, the Lagunari are just five points from safety. The former Roma player and manager Eusebio Di Francesco has witnessed his team lost just one of the last five fixtures at the Stadio Penzo. After Roma, they will face Lazio in the stadium.
Prior to the game, there were good news coming in the way for both teams. It was stated that both Dovbyk and Cristante will start along with Dybala. Along with them, Mancini would be leading the defense line as well.
For the hosts, the absence list featured some of the big names still. However, the good news for the Lagunari was that both Yeboah and Caviglia would start.
It was all to play for as the game kicked off. The crowd seemed to be riled up in the 3rd minute for a potential penalty but the referee denied and continued the game. With the 45th minute whistle finally coming in, it was nothing separating the two teams.
As the second half started, it was the hosts who were having most of the ball. However, at the 56th minute, Roma was awarded a penalty. The responsibility fell onto Dybala’s shoulder and he converted the spot kick, driving the goalkeeper to the opposite side. The score line stayed 0-1 as the traveling team was victorious.
Here are the Venezia vs Roma Player Ratings.

Goalkeeper
Radu (4/10)
Had nothing to do until the 36th minute where he had to paddle back and deny the header from the Roma striker. Had nothing to do when Roma scored their first goal from the penalty spot.
Defenders
Cande (4/10)
Had a pretty decent game in the first half. However, the booking on the 24th minute was unnecessary.
Idzes (4/10)
Played a perfect part in between the two defenders who were eager to go forward and make something happen.
Marcandalli (4.5/10)
Looked great going forward in the first half as he did not have much defending to do. Almost scored in the 45th minute to give his team the lead.
Midfielders
Zerbin (4/10)
Was great going forward while also tracking back the ball whenever Roma broke out in a counterattack.
Perez (4/10)
The inspiration was to win the game in their home and Perez’s passes and calls in the pitch stated just that. It was only a matter of time till he made the perfect pass that gave his team the lead.
Caviglia (4.5/10)
Made a stunning clearance from the goal line as Roma almost scored from a set piece in the 30th minute.
Busio (4/10)
Looked lively in the first half. He played a big part in the 249 total passes of his team.
Ellertsson (4.5/10)
With 81% pass accuracy in the first half, Venezia had better stats in the midfield. Props to Ellertsson and his chemistry with others, the host had the advantage in the first half.
Forwards
Yeboah (4.5/10)
Been the perfect partner of Fila. Both strikers were poised to have an edge over the visitors to change the landscape of pre-match stats where both the clubs have 1 win each and two draws in their last four fixtures.
Fila (4.5/10)
Seemed lively going forward. As per the H2H matches, Venezia won their last fixture against Roma in here back in November 2021. Perhaps that 3-2 scoreline was a real inspiration for the forward coming on to this match. Got a yellow card in the first 15 minutes.
Substitutions
Schingtienne (4/10)
Came in the 57th minute to replace Marcandalli.
Oristanio (4/10)
Came in the 58th minute to replace Yeboah.
Bjarkason (4/10)
Came in the 71st minute to replace Ellertsson.
Maric (4/10)
Came in the 80th minute to replace Kike Perez.
Gytkjaer
Came in along with Maric at the 80th minute.
Manager
Francesco (3.5/10)
Was the unhappy manager between the two.

Goalkeeper
Svilar (4/10)
Apart from a few saves here and there, he had not much to do during the first half.
Defenders
Ndicka (4.5/10)
Tried to have the right balance between attacking and defending. Seemed very connected with his center-back and the midfielders of the team.
Mancini (4/10)
Almost gave out a penalty in the 14th minute as the ball awkwardly made contact with his arm from the point-blank range. VAR checking was in progress and there was no penalty. He was cautious for the rest of the game. Almost scored the goal with a header as Dybala guided the ball to him from a free kick.
Celik (4/10)
Roma had a slow start in the game. They had taken 3 shots until 40th minute. Props to compact defending of Celik, Mancini, and Ndicka when they were in their defensive duties.
Midfielders
Pensch(4/10)
Compared to 249, Roma only made 170 passes throughout the game, and Pensch played a big part in it.
Gourna-Douath (4/10)
Got booked in the starting stages of the game with a yellow card.
Cristante (4/10)
His movements and passing was one of many examples why Roma had only 70% pass accuracy in the first half.
Tasende (4/10)
At the end of the first half, the visitors had 41% possession due to them losing the ball every time they had it. And making the right spaces by Tasende was not at all there, which is one of the reasons behind it.
Dybala (4.5/10)
Even until the 30th minute, the Argentine hasn’t had much of a ball. The midfield was still up for grabs for both of the teams. And Roma needed some creativity and control to make sure the tempo was in their hands. Scored the first goal of the match as he converted the 56th-minute penalty.
El Shaarawy (4/10)
Unlike Dybala, he had seen a lot of balls in the first half. He seemed pretty active as well while going forward. However, he could not produce much of a quality pass that could help his team break the deadlock.
Forwards
Dovbyk (4/10)
Did not see much of the ball and had less involvement with the build-up as well. Had a chance to give his team the lead in the 36th minute. However, it was less than a half chance.
Substitutions
Pisilli (4/10)
Came in the 58th minute to replace Gourna-Dounath.
Nelsson (4/10)
Came into the match in the 58th minute to replace El Shaarawy.
Baldanzi (4/10)
Came in the 68th minute to replace the scorer Dybala.
Shomurodov (4/10)
Came in at the 92nd minute to replace Dovbyk.
Manager
Ranieri (4/10)
Even though his team won, he seemed pretty disappointed.
